Record number of fi-domain names granted in 2009

A record number of fi-domain names were granted last year, 48 009 in all.

The total number of domain names increased to 225 625 by the end of the year. This means a growth of 20 per cent from 2008. However, the statistics only comprise new registrations, not renewal of domain names. There are most likely many reasons behind this growth; for example, fi-domain names have gained a wider publicity than before.
