Problems may occur when using Internet Explorer 8 for the Domain Name Service

The Domain Name Service https://domain.ficora.fi has a problem that occurs when using the Internet Explorer 8 browser software. Often the problems occur if the user users Windows Vista, IE 8, or if any additional components of the browser software have possibly been added into the computer.

Users who encounter the problem will receive the following error message as they try to enter the homepage of the Domain Name Service:

"An exception of type 'System.Exception' occurred. This exception type was configured to redirect to state 'SystemError'. An exception of type 'Avanade.ACA.ACAException' occurred during redirection. Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

The length of the user agent is the source of the problem.

Due to security reasons, .NET Framework sets a limit of 256 characters for the length which causes the problem when using the Domain Name Service. Microsoft Hotfix update patches the Framework 2.0+ feature only, not the problems of the older framework that is being used by the Domain Name Service. According to FICORA's current knowledge, the source of the problem is "an attribute" of .NET Framework and it seems like it cannot be changed.

If users encounter the above-mentioned problem, they may avoid it by using any other browser software, e.g. Firefox, Opera, Safari or Chrome.

FICORA apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused customers.
