Using a mobile phone abroad is considerably more expensive than domestic use. It is worthwhile to find out the charges for mobile calls, text messages and data services before travelling.

Within the EU, mobile calls have a price ceiling which has simplified the pricing of mobile calls in EU countries. Outside the EU, the charges for mobile phone use vary greatly, and prices are also significantly higher than in the EU countries. The best way to avoid unpleasant surprises is to look into the prices beforehand. Operator websites provide information on the prices of mobile phone use in different countries.
