Instructions for the mobile phone customers of GSM Suomi Oyj (updated 8.4.)

The continuation of the mobile phone subscriptions of GSM Suomi Oyj is uncertain after 14 April 2009 at 16.00.

If the mobile phone services of GSM Suomi come to an end, and you wish to make sure that you can continue using mobile phone services even after 14 April, select one of the following alternatives:

1) I want to keep my current mobile phone number

Turn to a telecoms operator of your choice that provides mobile phone services, or a dealer selling the subscriptions of this operator and make a new subscription agreement. Remember to mention that you wish to keep your current number. The telecoms operator will give you a new SIM card and let you know when your new subscription is ready for use. The operator told you a date when the new subscription would be ready for use. On that day, insert the new SIM card into your phone. The subscription is now ready for use.

Note that it may take a maximum of five days to port a number. This may cause a break in the service.

Also note that the additional services of the mobile phone, such as the answering service, data services etc. are not transferred although the number is ported. Therefore, you need to make an agreement of these services separately.

2) I want a new mobile phone subscription with a new number

Turn to a telecoms operator of your choice that provides mobile phone services, or a dealer selling the subscriptions of this operator and make a new subscription agreement. Depending on the operator, the new subscription may be ready for use during the same day.

3) I want a prepaid subscription

Buy a prepaid subscription, which is agreement-free and paid in advance, from a dealer selling them (e.g. kiosks). A prepaid subscription is ready for use the moment you buy it.

Number portability related to fixed-term agreements

You may not be able to keep your current mobile phone number if you have a valid fixed-term subscription agreement by which the number in question has been given to you. In this case, you cannot port the number to a new subscription until the fixed-term agreement has terminated.
