12.12.2008 Campaign for good mobile phone manners awarded
The 'Älä kailota' (Keep it private) campaign, which aims at thoughtful use of the mobile phone, has been awarded by Tapaseura, an association promoting good manners, with 'Vuoden tapateko', an award for the best-promoted manner of the year. Public transport players, telecom operators and communications authorities have launched the campaign to remind of the considerate use of a mobile phone in public transportation vehicles, in particular. Knowing how to use the mobile phone considerately belongs to good manners. The objective of the 'Älä kailota' campaign is to make citizens think what and where they talk on their phones, and to promote public discussion about the use of the mobile phone in public space. Talking about private matters and business secrets as well as talking too loud are key focuses to be influenced by the campaign. The 'Älä kailota' campaign was launched for the first time a year ago and will be relaunched in January 2009. The 'Älä kailota' campaign coordinated by the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA) is arranged by: DNA, Elisa, Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority, Finnish Rail Administration, Finnish Taxi Owners Federation, Helsinki City Transport, Helsinki Metropolitan Area Council, Linja-autoliitto, Ministry of Transport and Communications, TeliaSonera and VR. Tapaseura has given the 'Vuoden Tapateko' awards since 2000. The 'Vuoden Tapateko' certificate of honour is awarded to an individual or organization which has promoted the society's objectives. Tapaseura aims at improving the knowledge of good manners and raising interest in the culture of good manners.
