Revised regulations on numbering and barring categories

FICORA has amended its regulations on the numbering in a public telephone network and on barring categories in telecommunications. The regulations enter into force on 1 September 2008.

The amendment enables the sending of premium rate text messages to nationwide voice telephony service numbers and to 118. Providing premium rate text message services is not mandatory to the operators. However, if the operator provides such services, it must arrange the relevant barring categories to these text message numbers in accordance with the barring regulation. Earlier, premium rate text messages could only be sent to those short message service numbers which FICORA had granted.

The regulation 32 M/2008 M on numbering in the public telephone network replaces the former version 32 L/2008 M and the regulation 35 N/2008 M on barring categories in telecommunications replaces the former version 35 M/2008 M.
