Licence fees
All television or radio broadcasters with a licence have to pay a licence fee monthly. FICORA collects the licence fees into the State Television and Radio Fund on the basis of the provisions in the Act on the State Television and Radio Fund. Most of the assets in the fund are used to finance the activities of the Finnish Broadcasting Company.
A broadcaster shall pay the licence fee when the turnover exceeds FIM 20 million. The fee is determined by a progressive system depending on the turnover. At the moment only television broadcasters pay the licence fee. The licence fee will be applied to radio operations as of 2004.
