Types of attacks

There are various types of attacks. The type used often depends on the motive and targets of the attacker. The types of attacks can be classified for instance according to the following list:

Denial of service (DoS), where the attacker tries to slow down, complicate or hinder the function of the target.

Unauthorised use, where the attacker uses the resources of the system without permission.

Information system break-in or stealing of information, where the attacker seizes information from the target.
