Telephone and broadband services
This section gives you information on communications services provided for consumers.
Communications services mean such services provided by telecommunications operators to customers where messages are transferred or kept available in a public communications network. Such are for instance telephone subscriber connections to the fixed network, to a mobile network and broadband subscriptions.
Additional services mean facilities or services related to a communications service, for instance call-barring services or balance limits in the subscriptions. The obligation of provision of certain services is imposed on telecommunications operators by law. Provision of additional services may also be based on an agreement between the operator and the customer.
Content services mean for instance pastime, business and entertainment services offered to customers through a telecommunications service.
FICORA supervises telecommunications operators who provide communications services and additional services. The providers of content services are under the surveillance of consumer authorities and, regarding telephone services, an ethical board (MAPEL), which is the self-regulatory body of providers of content services.
