Service numbers

Service numbers are classified as nationwide, specific for a numbering area or restricted to the operators' operating area. Calls to premium rate service numbers may be barred (call barring facilities).

Service numbers are in general not accessible from abroad.

Nationwide service numbers

Nationwide service numbers are all numbers beginning with 0600, 0700 and 0800.

  • The 0600 numbers are reserved for information services.
  • The 0700 numbers are reserved for entertainment and adult entertainment services.
  • The 0800 and 116 numbers are reserved for freephone services.

A more detailed classification can be found in the Regulation on Barring Categories for Telecommunications (FICORA 35).

Number series 0606, 0707 and 0708 are allocated to services falling within the scope of the Finnish payment services act (290/2010).

In addition, the numbers beginning with 010, 020, 030 and 075 are nationwide service numbers:

  • 0100 Service group I (general services )
  • 0100 100 General directory inquiry service with national switching function
  • 0200 Service group I (general services)
  • 02020, 02022, 02023 Service group I (general services)
  • 02020x (x=0-7, 9) general directory inquiry service with national switching function
  • 020208 Service number with international switching function
  • 02098, 02099 Service group II (consulting and ordering)
  • 0300 Service group I (general services )
  • 075100-075199 general directory inquiry service with national switching function
  • 075200-075299 General directory inquiry service with international switching function
  • 075000, 075300, 075320, 075750, 075980 General directory inquiry service with national switching function
  • 075001, 075301, 075321, 075751, 075981 Service group I (general services)
  • 075002, 075302, 075322, 075752, 075982 Service group II (consulting and ordering)

Information about the service providers of nationwide service numbers is available on 0800 188 188 (numbers in TeliaSonera Finland Oyj's network) and on 0800 9 5050 (numbers in Elisa Corporation's network). Information about the service providers is also available to a limited extent on general directory inquiry service numbers (118, 0100 100, 02 0202). The Ethical Board for Premium-Rate Telephone Services (MAPEL) provides information also about service providers on + 358 9 666 332, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Nationwide service numbers are always dialled completely (with initiating 0) without any other area code or operator prefix.

Numbering-area specific service numbers begin with 106 and 107. Operator-specific service numbers begin with 100.

Operators have been assigned the following service number blocks beginning with 0600, 0700 and 0800:

Due to telephone number portability, some of the numbers within the given number blocks have been connected to another operator's network. Information about the operator whose network the number belongs to is provided free of charge on 0800 02202 and on the Internet at www.siirretytnumerot.fi.

Operators have been assigned the following nationwide subscriber number blocks beginning with 010, 020, 030 and 075, which also include nationwide service numbers as given above.

Nationwide subscriber numbers

Due to telephone number portability, some of the numbers within the given number blocks have been connected to another operator's network. Information about the operator whose network the number belongs to is provided free of charge on 0800 02202 and on the Internet at www.siirretytnumerot.fi.

Numbering area specific service numbers

Numberig area specific service numbers begin with 106 or 107. It is usually not possible to call service numbers which are specific for a telecommunications area from a fixed network in another telecommunications area. For calls from mobile networks, area code for a telecommunications area must always be dialled.

Operator-specific service numbers

Operator-specific service numbers begin with 100. Usually, it is not possible to call these numbers from another operator's network.
