Telephone network numbering

Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA) coordinates numbering in telecommunications networks, specifies the national numbering plan and barring categories and issues regulations on numbering. In this work FICORA is assisted by a working group on numbering, comprising of operators and users.

FICORA allocates number blocks and codes for operators on application. This arrangement ensures sufficient number capacity, equitability among the operators and uniformity of numbers. A numbering fee is collected for the granted numbers and codes.

FICORA is actively involved in international cooperation within numbering.
