The conditions for FICORA's whois service

The whois service of fi-domain names is based on an Internet standard, RFC 3912, which is coordinated by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Internet top-level domain administrators broadly use Whois services. The customer programme ‘whois’ of the whois service is a standard option in most Unix and Linux operating systems. The Whois service can also be intergraded as part of the service provider's own systems enabling customers to find out whether the domain name in question is available.

The service address of FICORA’s whois service for fi-domain names is whois.ficora.fi. The whois service is intended for checking the information of individual domain names. Whois is an open service for all users. In order for us to be able to provide the service on equal basis and without peak for all users, the user must follow the following rules.

- A maximum of 10,000 searches are permitted from one IP address during one (1) day (24 hours).

- A maximum of five (5) searches are permitted from one IP address during one (1) second.

If the daily number of searches exceeds 10,000, or if more than five searches are made in seconds, FICORA has the right to block access from the IP address in question to the whois service for 24 hours.

In order to ensure the use of the service, FICORA has the right to restrict the use of the service in other ways, too, if necessary.
