Radio amateur examinations and certificates

A radio amateur certificate is required before you can apply for an amateur licence and a call sign. FICORA issues the radio amateur certificate after successfully passed examination.

It is also possible to apply for a Finnish amateur licence
- for a permanent licence on the basis of a HAREC certificate issued by the administration of a foreign country and
- for a visitor licence on the basis of a foreign amateur licence.

The radio amateur examination is based on modules. Each module may be made separately. It is also possible to pass all the necessary modules at the same time. The radio amateur examination modules do not expire.

In the examination the applicant can also apply for the certificate. The amateur certificates do not have an expiry date.
- To obtain an elementary class certificate the applicant has to pass modules K and T1.
- To obtain a general class certificate the applicant has to pass modules K and T2.

The examinations are held by the Finnish Radio Amateur League (SRAL).

The fee for an amateur certificate is €43.75
