Telecommunications notification

Pursuant to section 13 of the new Communications Market Act (393/2003), which entered into force on 25 July 2003, an operator of public telecommunications is obliged to submit a written notification (telecommunications notification) to the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority before the operator launches its operations.

In accordance with the transitional provision of section 142, also those telecommunications operators, who had submitted a telecommunications notification to the Ministry of Transport and Communications under the Communications Market Act valid upon the entry into force of this Act, have an obligation to submit to the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority a telecommunications notification in accordance with the new Communications Market Act within two months from the entry into force of the Act, that is by 25 September 2003. A telecommunications notification is not significant in the sense that it would create independent rights or obligations. Instead, it is meant to be an instrument of work for regulatory authorities.

A telecommunications notification is submitted via an electronic form. The telecommunications notification may alternatively be posted to the following address: the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority, Telecommunications notifications, PB 313, 00181 Helsinki.
